Applicants to the UIS Online MBA must meet at least one of the following combinations for admission.

  • Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Bachelor's degree in business from a regionally accredited college or university with a 2.5 GPA or higher

Operations management concerns the production and delivery of goods and services. This course focuses on those business processes, procedures and strategies used to transform various inputs into finished goods and services. Focus is on both understanding how the provision of goods is organized and managed and recognizing potential areas of improvement in the management or production of goods and services. Also of major study will be how operations management interfaces with other functional areas and the various issues and problems that traditionally arise in the field of operations management, including those related to technology, globalization, and ethics. Students who have not completed Managerial and Finance Accounting, Microeconomics and/0r Macroeconomics will be placed in ACC 505.

Any 500-level course within the College (ACC/BUS/FIN/MGT/MIS) is an acceptable elective except for ACC 505, BUS 501 and MIS 513.  Please make sure you meet the course prerequisite requirement.

This course enables students to learn about the methodologies used to redesign optimal business processes and related information technologies used in support of process innovation. Students learn about the state-of-the-art techniques used in support of business process modeling, simulation, analysis, and redesign. These techniques, learned through hands-on practice with SAP systems and ARIS simulation, include: identifying best-practice process, workflow automation, simulation of the business processes, and design of strategic enterprise management systems for efficient and effective use of information technology in support of business operations. Moreover, in this course, students learn about the concepts, principles, and models of enterprise governance of Information Technology in support of business process change and management. Prerequisite: MIS 513.

  • Demonstrates how to model business processes and measure business-IT alignment
  • Discusses applications of process modeling and governance of IT to improve thinking, problem-solving and decisions for businesses
  • Provides hands-on experience with related real-life or simulated applications

  • Review and investigate the best practices and emerging approaches in process management, analysis and mining
  • Provide hands-on practices for analyzing, implementing, monitoring and mining business processes

This is the gateway course to the MBA curriculum that introduces the core concepts in functional areas of management, marketing, finance and operations with an emphasis on application to business situations.
