If you are enrolling in our online Graduate Accelerated Programs (GAP) through the College of Business and
Management, be aware that their tuition deadlines are different from general
University tuition deadlines. For GAP, tuition is due to be paid in full the
day before classes begin each term. If payment is not received before the first
day of classes, you will be administratively withdrawn from the program.
Because the online program that you have applied and been admitted to is based on an 8-week period, while the University customarily addresses programs offered in a 16-week period, you may receive conflicting information from the University of Illinois System Bursar Office. The payment and due dates sent by the bursar office do not apply to your 8-week online courses. If you have questions, please contact your program advisor.

Admission Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- No GMAT required
- All official transcripts
Applicants to the UIS Online MBA must meet at least one of the following combinations for admission.
- Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university
- Bachelor's degree in business from a regionally accredited college or university with a 2.5 GPA or higher
- Bachelor's degree with a non-business major from a regionally accredited college or university with a 2.5 GPA or higher and completion of gateway prerequisite courses BUS 501 Business Perspectives and ACC 505 Fundamentals of Business Decisions Making
Note: Students in the online MBA are not eligible to participate in the GA programs or to use University of Illinois Employee/Child of Employee Tuition Waivers.

For the online MBA program, you must complete 10 courses totaling 30 credit hours, including 21 credit hours of core courses and nine credit hours of electives.

- Express and explain the fundamental knowledge to become a Database Administrator (DBA)
- Review and summarize current trends in database technologies and popular DBMS products
- Design and develop working database applications
- Use SQL as foundation to build a database-driven reporting system
- Integrate and apply technical knowledge including programming, website building, and network communication on a database project
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to do the following:
- Use SQL SELECT statement to retrieve data from an existing database
- Describe and use Data Definition Language (DDL) and Data Manipulation Language (DML)
- Analyze data requirements using Entity-Relation Diagram (ERD)
- Build a relational database using a popular Database Management System (DBMS, currently, Oracle 18c, Oracle Cloud, and Oracle Express Edition 18c)
- Build interfaces to interact with the relational databases through database access standards (ODBC, JDBC, and XML)
- Use a scripting language such as PHP and JavaScript as well as Procedural SQL (PL/SQL) to provide customized features in a web-based reporting system
- Understand the current development of database technologies, such as cloud, NoSQL, and data-enabled artificial intelligence

- Understand the basic concepts of supervised and unsupervised data mining techniques
- Apply data mining process to transform data into information and further generate knowledge from information
- Perform data exploration and visualization, and dimension reduction
- Apply different supervised and unsupervised data mining techniques to generate meaningful insights from data
- Evaluate the predictive performance of a data mining method
- Apply data mining for business analytics to develop predictive models
Learning Outcomes
After completing this course, students will be able to do the following:
- Demonstrate the ability to extract and transform data and use dimension reduction techniques to prepare data for data mining to help in developing data exploration and transformation expertise
- Demonstrate the ability to explore data and visualize the data using Tableau and/or SAS Enterprise Miner to help in developing data exploration and visualization expertise
- Demonstrate the ability to use supervised learning techniques to generate meaningful insights from data to help in developing the expertise to create a predictive model using data mining tool(s); provide expertise to evaluate the predictive performance of a data mining method
- Develop the expertise using unsupervised learning techniques for exploratory analysis and generating meaning insights from data using data mining tool(s) and technique(s)
- Demonstrate the ability to use SEMMA (Sampling, Exploring, Modifying, Modeling, and Assessing) as a data mining process for business analytics, to develop predictive models; and evaluate the predictive performance including scoring of a data mining method using data mining tool(s)
